RECORDING

A Short History…

In the early 1980s, in Western Australia, I saw performers using electronic backing for their gigs and I wanted to emulate them. I began with MIDI sequencing and progressed to computers; realising when CD’s came along that I could leave all my bulky gear at home and record the backing onto CD’s to use during live performances.

In the late 1990s computers were able to record audio reliably, and this led to me opening Townsville’s first all digital recording studio in a custom built room underneath my house in Wulguru. I recorded many of the local bands and also did some specialty recordings

I moved away from Wulguru in the mid 2000s and spent the next few years concentrating on live performance, however I kept a bedroom studio going to do small jobs and to continue producing tracks for my live work. Throughout the 2010s I moved around quite frequently - always setting up a small studio wherever I was, be it a bedroom or a shipping container. As technology improved and I moved around more an more I realised it would be possible, with the experience I had gained, to set up a completely portable recording studio that could produce a product far superior to the studio’s recordings of the early 2000s.
